Join Heritage Gardener volunteers for a free evening of education!
On Thursday, March 26, from 7 PM to 8 PM, the North Bay Heritage Gardeners will host a free and public Education Night at the North Bay Museum. The topic will be Creating a Dementia Friendly Environment. Guest speaker Taylor Matson is involved in Public Education and Health Promotion Planning at the Alzheimer Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts. Taylor will be providing education on the importance of including people living with dementia in social groups in order to increase their independence and social well-being. This session will also provide general knowledge and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, signs, symptoms, and communication tips.
Education Nights help our volunteers and the community expand their knowledge of gardening, horticulture, and the environment. The sessions are designed to be diverse and we welcome suggestions for new topics to cover. The events are free learning opportunities, and anyone is welcome to join. Presentations are approximately 45 minutes long, leaving room for questions and discussion.
Please pre-register for the event by sending your name and contact information to heritage.gardeners@heritagenorthbay.com
