The North Bay Heritage Gardeners are dedicated to developing a year-round, community-based educational horticultural and environmental program focused on the beautification of North Bay’s waterfront.
We are a volunteer-driven gardening organization with a strong focus on horticultural and environmental education. With over 200 local volunteer gardeners working each season, we maintain and enhance the ornamental gardens along the waterfront.
New volunteers are always welcome — no gardening experience required. We also offer free educational sessions to help you grow your gardening knowledge.
The gardening season runs from May to October, beginning with our spring opening week and concluding with fall bulb planting. Volunteers are placed into teams along the waterfront and garden under the guidance of a team leader.
- Teams typically spend 1–2 hours per week maintaining their garden beds on a specific weekday
- Most teams garden during weekday mornings (Monday–Thursday), with a limited number of teams meeting in the evenings during the week
